Bu metinde Deleuze ve Guattari (D+G)’nin demokrasi kavrayışı, algılamlar ve duygulamlar ile düşünen sanatın “demokratik-oluşa” ilişkin hayal gücüne dayanarak ele alınacaktır. Demokrasi, D+G için ulaşılması düşlenebilecek siyasi bir hedef ya da dünya için uygun bir yönetim biçiminin adı olmadığı gibi, bir temsil mekanizması olduğu kertede—çoğunluk tahakkümünü desteklediği için—negatif anlamlarla yüklü bir sistemdir. Demokrasiyi olumlamanın tek yolu onu bir toplumsal ölçüm aracı olarak sabitleyen yönetimsel boyutundan arındırıp eksilterek “çokluk” ve “oluş” ile yeniden ilişkilendirmektir. Bu bağlamda, demokrasi ancak demokratik-oluş, devrimci-oluş ve azınlık-oluş kavramlarıyla bir arada ele alındığında olumlanabilir. Öte yandan, demokrasi hakkında fikir yürütmenin yegâne yöntemi ana akım siyaset felsefesi yapmak ya da meslekten siyasetçilik değildir. “Sanatın kendiliğinden siyaseti” demokratik-oluşu düşünmek için yararlı olabilir çünkü kendisi de bir düşünme biçimi olan sanat, siyaset üzerine düşünürken, gündelik hayatta gerçekleşmesi zor olan ya da üzerinde ancak kuramsal düzeyde konuşulabilecek çoğu meseleyi, yalnızca eserin kendi dünyasında olsa da, yaşayan bir düzleme yerleştirebilir. Kısacası, bir temsil aygıtına dönüşmediği takdirde, sanat ilgili olduğu tüm oluşların yanı sıra demokratik-oluşu düşünmenin de vasıtası olabilir.
In this text, the concept of democracy of Deleuze and Guattari (D+G) will be discussed on the basis of the imagination of the "democratic-existence" of the art thinking with perceptions and emotions. Democracy is a political goal to be achieved for D+G, or as it is not the name of a form of governance suitable for the world, it is a representative mechanism - because it supports the majority- a system loaded with negative meanings. The only way to optimize democracy is to clear it from the administrative dimension that establishes it as a means of social measurement and to re-associate it with “multibility” and “existence”. In this context, democracy can only be positive when it is addressed together with the concepts of democratic, revolutionary, and minority. On the other hand, the only way to make an opinion about democracy is not to make a political philosophy or professionalism. “Politics by itself of art” can be useful to think about democratic existence; for the art itself is a way of thinking, while thinking about politics, the majority of the matters which are difficult to realize in daily life or which can only be discussed on the theoretical level, although only in the world of the work itself, can place a living layer. In short, if it does not become a representative instrument, art can be a means of thinking about all the formations that are related to, as well as democratic existence.
In this article, Deleuze & Guattari (D+G)’s conception of democracy will be approached with regard to art’s envisagement of “becoming-democratic” as a mode of thinking through percepts and affects. For D+G, democracy is, by no means, a desirable political goal or the name of a type of governance appropriate for the world. On the contrary, as long as it is a representation mechanism, democracy has negative connotations since it promotes the dominance of majority. For this reason, the only way of affirming democracy is to cleanse and subtract the governmental layers which fix it as a system of social measurement, and re-associate it with “multiplicity” & “becoming”. In this respect, democracy can only be affirmed if it is paired with the notions of becoming-democratic, becoming-revolutionary and becoming-minor. Nevertheless, it is not the case that mainstream political philosophy or professional politics are the only methods for formulating opinions on democracy. “Politics of art” would provide means of thinking upon becoming democratic since art—being a mode of thinking by itself—may place many issues about which one could talk only theoretically (or which would hardly become a part of daily life) on a living plane, even though that plane would solely exist in the world of the work of art. In brief, on the condition that it is not an apparatus of representation, art may turn into a medium of thinking upon becoming-democratic, in addition to all the other becomings that it is related to.
