Abstract:

This study aims to identify the impact of STEM applications carried out within the framework of the High School, Electrical Energy Unit on students’ academic success and scientific process skills. Research at the Samsun district 7. The study was conducted for a period of 8 weeks with 27 students. In order to ensure the integration of the STEM and curriculum, the Science Course, the Electrical Energy Unit achievements have been determined with the achievements of the STEM disciplines. Students are aimed at showing active experiences in the learning process while working in collaboration with the group. To determine the impact of STEM practices on academic success, a success test was developed, consisting of 17 open end questions and a reliability ratio of 0.73. The highest 4 lowest 1 point for the information test was created with a 4 ratings answer key. In order to determine the impact of STEM applications on students’ scientific process skills, the test was used, consisting of 26 questions developed by Öztürk (2008) and the reliability ratio is 0.79. The data was analyzed using the spss package program, with the t test. According to the results of the analysis, STEM applications have been determined to have a significant difference in the pre-test and final test results applied to students’ academic achievements and scientific process skills, and that STEM applications contribute to the development of students’ academic success and scientific process skills. With the integration of the STEM curriculum, it is achieved that students can also apply to different units according to academic success and the development of the scientific process skills.
