Özel Yetenekli Öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri ve Matematik Derslerinde Kullanılan Sembol ve Birimlere Yönelik Bilgi Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu araştırmada, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin fen bilimleri ve matematik derslerinde kullanılan sembol ve birimlere yönelik bilgi düzeylerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada, nicel araştırma yöntemi desenlerinden tarama kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2019-2020 eğitim öğretim yılında Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde yer alan bir Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi’nde öğrenim gören 103 özel yetenekli öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen Birim ve Sembol Testi kullanılmıştır.  Verilerin analizinde betimsel ve çıkarıma dayalı istatistiksel analiz yöntemleri yürütülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin fen bilimleri ve matematik derslerinde kullanılan birim ve sembollere yönelik bilgi düzeylerinin düşük olduğu yönündedir. Bununla birlikte kadın ve erkek özel yetenekli öğrencilerin testten elde ettikleri puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır. Buna rağmen farklı öğretim programına devam eden özel yetenekli öğrencilerin testten elde ettikleri puanlar arasında Özel Yetenekleri Geliştirme programındaki öğrenciler lehine anlamlı düzeyde bir farklılık tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara yönelik gerekli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract:

In this research, it was aimed to examine the knowledge levels of gifted students on symbols and units used in science and mathematics courses. In the research survey, one of the quantitative research method, was used. The sample of the research consisted of 103 gifted students studying at a Science and Art Center in the Eastern Anatolia Region in the 2019-2020 academic years. Unit and Symbol Test developed by the researchers were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis methods were conducted. The findings showed that the level of knowledge of the gifted students on the units and symbols used in science and mathematics courses was low. In addition, no significant difference was found between the average scores obtained from the test by male and female gifted students. However, there was a significant difference between the scores obtained by the gifted students attending different curricula in favor of the students in the Special Skills Development Program. Necessary recommendations were made for the findings.
