So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

Günümüzde bilgi teknolojileri her geçen gün gelişerek kullanıcılarının hayatlarının vazgeçilmez birer parçası haline gelmektedir. Hem eğitim hem de rekreasyonel faaliyetler alanındaki teknolojik yeniliklerden biri de e-kitaplardır. E-kitaplar, elektronik ortamda yayımlanan ya da elektronik ortama aktarılarak kullanılan, çeşitli yazılımlar ve cihazlarla okunabilen ya da izlenebilen metin ve resim barındıran yeni nesil bir kitap okuma yöntemi olarak değerlendirilebilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinin e-kitapları kullanmaya yönelik niyetini ve bu niyeti etkileyecek faktörleri Teknoloji Kabul Modeli yardımıyla ölçmektir. Bu amaçla Çukurova Üniversitesi İİBF İşletme Bölümü öğrencilerinden yüz yüze anket yöntemiyle toplanan 422 kullanılabilir formdaki verinin analizi için faktör analizi ve regresyon yöntemlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular e- kitapların algılanan kullanım kolaylığının ve algılanan faydasının öğrencilerin e-kitap kabulüne yönelik niyeti üzerinde olumlu yönde istatistiksel yönden anlamlı bir etkisi olduğunu göstermiştir. Buna karşılık çevre bilinci, algılanan maliyet, kişisel yenilikçilik ve sosyal etkilerin e-kitap kullanımına yönelik davranışsal niyet üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Sonuçlar derinlemesine bir anlayış sağlayabilmek için teori, kullanıcılar ve işletmeler açısından ele alınarak tartışılmıştır

Abstract:

Today, information technology is evolving every day and becomes an indispensable part of the lives of its users. One of the technological innovations in both educational and recreational activities is ebooks. E-books can be regarded as a new generation of book reading method that contains text and images that can be read or traced by various software and devices, published or transmitted to electronic media. The aim of this study is to measure the intention of university students to use ebooks and the factors that will affect this intention with the help of the Technology Admission Model. For this purpose, the Factor Analysis and Regression Methods have been used for the analysis of the data in the 422 available form collected face-to-face by students of the IBF Business Department of the University of Çukurova. The findings have shown that e-books’ perceived usability and perceived benefits have a statistically significant impact on the intention of students to accept e-books in a positive direction. In contrast, environmental consciousness, perceptible costs, personal innovation and social effects have not been shown to have a significant impact on the behavioral intention to use e-books. The results have been discussed by theory, user and business perspective to provide a deep understanding.

Today, with the accelerated improvements, information systems became indispensable part in users lives. E-books are one of these technological innovations in both educational and recreational sectors. E-books can be considered to be the next generation of book reading method, which is utilized or transferred to electronic media that contains content – text , and images and can be perused or viewed with various software and devices. The purpose of this study is to measure the behavioral intention of using e-books among graduate and undergraduate students from Cukurova University Business Administration Department by using the technology acceptance model. With this purpose, a survey through questionnaire was conducted to collect the data from 422 respondents. Data were analyzed using factor analysis and regression. Findings show perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have a positive and statistically significant effect on students’ behavioral intention to accept e-books. On the other hand, environmental consciousness, perceived costs, personal innovativeness and social influences do not have any statistically significant effect on behavioral intention to use e-books. In order to provide an in-depth understanding of the results, the theory has been discussed in terms of theory, e-book users and companies
