Abstract:

Nowadays mission and vision are concepts that should be given importance in terms of health management. Based on this point of view, the mission and vision statements of 26 hospitals in Samsun, which has the most population and also the most hospitals in the Blacksea Region, were examined. In this context, there are three purposes of the research. The first one is to determine the components of the mission and vision of public and private hospitals operating in Samsun province and in the towns of Samsun since December 2022. The second aim is to determine what the mission and vision components emphasize. The third aim is to compare these results according to the type of ownership of the hospitals. Within this scope, qualitative research method was preferred as a method in the study. In addition, document analysis technique was used to collect data. Morever, content analysis was used to analyse the obtained data. As a result, it is determined that in the mission statements in hospitals, the "customer" and "service" are the components emphasized the most, and the "place"is the component emphasized the least. Besides, in the vision statements, it was seen that the most emphasis was placed on the "people" component, and the least emphasis was on the “place” component. Consequently, it was found out that, although the components of the mission and vision vary according to the types of ownership of the hospitals, there were no noteworthy differences.
