1907 yılında iki hasım devlet arası imzalanan antlaşmayla birlikte son bulduğu düşünülen Büyük Oyun ve bölge üzerinde yaşanan güç mücadelesi, Sovyet Sosyalist Cumhuriyetler Birliği'nin dağılışıyla bağımsızlığını kazanan yeni devletlerle birlikte bölgenin geleceğinin değişik ihtimallere açık hale gelmesi sonucu, 20. yüzyılın sonlarında yeniden uluslararası ilişkiler disiplininin gündemini meşgul eden konular arasında üst sıralarda yer almaya başlamıştır.
The world’s important natural gas and oil resources, especially the European countries and the People’s Republic of China, which have an important place in meeting the energy needs, are rapidly developing and candidate to become the potential global economic centers of the future, the Eurasia Geography, which is formed from the geographical area that forms the surroundings of Central Asia, the Hazard Region and these regions, represents the stage of the New Great Game, which is played by numerous actors such as small states, international and international organizations, terrorist groups and multinational companies. This is the same area where the famous Great Game, which describes the imperialist power struggle between the Great Britain and the Russian Empire in the 19th century. The Great Game and the struggle of power on the region, which was thought to end with the treaty signed between the two states in 1907, as a result of the future of the region, together with the new states that gained independence by the dissolution of the Soviet Socialist Republics, became open to different possibilities, and at the end of the 20th century the top topics of the international relations began to be ranked among the top topics of the agenda of the discipline. There is only one thing that is fundamental, even if there are various differences in terms of old and new major players, conflict areas, the scope and context of the struggle: this region has been of great importance for the interests of the world’s great powers for centuries. The aim of this study is to compare the history of the Great Game and the New Great Game that is ongoing today, to reveal their similarities and to reveal that the main cause of the two events is the same, although the new game is much larger than the previous.
