J. Locke, one of the major thinkers of the 17th century, played an important role in the formation of the epistemological paradigm of the time. The philosopher, who influenced the subsequent periods with his philosophical views, can be regarded as one of the kilometres of the thought of Enlightenment. The philosopher, who claims to build his epistemology entirely on experiment, is open to the debate how consistently he realizes this claim. However, we can say that many of his analysis of epistemology is in a matter that is replicated in contemporary epistemologies. Epistemological accuracy is one of these. In this study, Locke’s point of view of truth will be discussed in the context of epistemology, and it will be suggested that only a partial truth can be revealed. This will be claimed to be derived from the philosopher’s acceptance that “all of our knowledge is made up of simple beliefs” in the form of a comprehensive and concrete compensatory acceptance.
