Background: Sleep quality in undergraduate students is important for health protection in terms of physiological and psychological and increasing performance. Aim: This research was conducted as a descriptive study to evaluate the sleep quality and identify affecting factors of the sleep quality in undergraduate students . Methods: The study was carried out with 300 students who were receving education at Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy between the dates January-June 2012. Data collection was performed using “Individual İnformation Form” and “Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index”. The data analysis consisted of totals and percentages, Student t test, variance analysis, correlation and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: The mean of students’ PSQI points was 6.15+1.90. Of the students, 59% had poor sleep quality. There was no difference between descriptive variables such as age, sex, class, school of the study, location and smoking status and PSQI scores of the students. Sleep quality was poor in students using alcohol and caffeinated, having more or less sleep time than usual and sleeping during lectures. Cınclusion: İn this study, sleep quality in collage students was found to be poor. Therefore, further studies should be carried out to improve quality of sleep and to prevent problems that may occur due to poor sleep quality in students
