Abstract:

This study aimed at developing the Word Deep Test (SDT) that assessed the depth size of semantic knowledge and the performance of Word Deep in children with normal development between 4 and 6 years of age. The work is structured with a cutting-edge research design from scan models. In the determination of the study group, 3 schools from the lower, middle and upper socio-economic level have been identified using the layer sample method from the first stage of unselective sampling methods. In the determination of the working group among the children who go to these schools, the method of measurement sampling based on purpose sampling was used from non-selective sampling methods. In the work group created by this way, a total of 202 children, including girls and 98 boys, are included in the official and private pre-school educational institutions located in the province of İzmir. The SDT, which consists of a total of 24 question words, including 3 sections with all and vertical related words and 8 question words in each section, has four options with a correct answer to each question word described in the SDT. The results obtained indicate that there is an evolutionary order from horizontal-related words to vertical-related words. When we look at the SDT performance of children at different socio-economic levels, the average of children at the lower socio-economic level has shown a significant difference from children at the middle and the upper socio-economic level.
