Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of the teacher candidates on the use of virtual reality systems and applications in education in line with the opinions received from the primary school teacher candidates. For this purpose, primary school teacher candidates studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Department of Classroom Education in 2019-2020 in Çanakkale were the participants of the research. In the research, 15 classroom teacher candidates participated in the interviews in the qualitative research dimension. For open-ended questions, thematic analysis was carried out with the content analysis technique. The majority of the primary school teacher candidates stated that the use of virtual reality in education is interesting, suitable for students with schematic and visual thinking styles, encouraging students to be active, providing students with a general idea about the subject, enabling students to quickly review the lesson they are studying and making it easier to put the information into practice. thinks that it provides fast learning, facilitates comprehension, and requires concentration. Some of the participants stated the weaknesses of virtual reality; They stated it as costly, tiring and confusing.
