The studies about the transformation of local products to tourism value arises the importance of local marketing in tourism. This is not only an economic benefit but also an introduction of the tourism for the area. It is also inevitable to find new methods for the transformation of the local products to tourism value by geographical indications. In this study I will study about geographical marking which leads to the protection of the local products and give some examples about the transformation of local products to tourism value. It is a fact that İzmit Pişmaniye is a local value for İzmit economically but also it is a value for tourism. In this sense, it is very important for the city of Kocaeli that İzmit Pişmaniye, which has geographical indication, is used for tourism. I will examine the contribution of İzmit Pismaniye to the economy of the city and in addition to that I will give some suggestion about the protection and the introduction of this value.
