Milletleşme ve millet oluşturma toplamsal bir süreçtir. Bu evre ulus devlet modeline giden önemli bir zemini de teşkil etmektedir. Sosyo-kültürel ve askeri temelli olmak üzere çeşitli yaklaşımlarla bu dönüşümün, modern Türk devletinin oluşturulmasında kullanıldığı belirlenebilir.Özellikle üzerinde duracağımız kültürel değişimin bir ayağı olarak sanat ve edebiyat verimleriyle iktidarı kutsayan, ulus mantığını yücelten eserlerin ortaya konulduğu gözlenir. Milli kimliğin bilincini meydana getirmek bunun sonucunda da bireylerin kendilerini bir cemaatin ortak mensubu olarak görmelerini sağlamak amacıyla kaleme alınan edebiyat eserlerinin 19. yüzyılın ulus devletlerini inşa etmekte kullanıldığı görülür.Türkiye’nin ulus devlete geçişini sağlamak amacıyla modern kimliğin yaratımı ve yapılan inkılapların yayılması noktasında romanların “projelendirilmiş toplumun ve insanların kullanım kılavuzu” gibi işlev gördüğü söylenebilir. Bu açıdan sanatçılardan da beklenen yeni düzene destek olmalarıdır. Bu destek olma evresinde hem sistemin hem de sanatçıların üzerinden en fazla durdukları husus çocuklardır. “İdeal Türk çocuğu” algısı büyük ölçüde vatandaşlık temelli olarak yeniden formüle edilmiştir. Gerek yurttaş, müteşebbis; gerekse asker olarak bu çocuklar ailesinin, devletinin ve toplumun en önemli unsurudur.Cumhuriyet’le beraber arzu edilen çocuk algısı, Doğululuktan kurtulmuş, Batının yüksek medeniyet seviyesine çıkma ideali taşıyan, Cumhuriyet değerlerine ve inkılâplarına bağlı, “kurucu/koruyucu Gazi imgesine” sahip çıkan, modernleşme ve kalkınma hedeflerine ulaşma yolunda gayretli bireylerden oluşmaktadır.Bu yeni neslin kamusal mekânları nasıl kullanması gerektiğinden giyim kuşam adabına, görgü kurallarından ahlak algısına, temizlikten medeniliği sağlayan tüm unsurlara kadar her şey belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte milli bilinç ve Cumhuriyetçi çocuklar yaratma düşüncesinin bir parçası olarak özellikle eğitim hususu üzerinde durulmuştur. İnsanlığın onurunu zedeleyen cehaletten kurtularak okuyan çocukların öncelikle içinden çıktıkları köyleri aydınlatma düşüncesi ağırlıklı işlenen konulardan olmuştur. Tüm bireyler bütün bu gayretleri bir vazife ve sorumluluk olarak telakki edeceklerdir. Bu doğrultuda ortaya konulan romanlarda da yukarıda saydığımız nitelikleri haiz çocuklar dikkati çekmektedir. Bu eserlerden biri de Muallim Cemal tarafından kaleme alınan Küçük Durmuş’ 1933 tur. Çalışmamızda roman, ulus devlet çizgisinin ideal çocuk algısı açısından incelenmeye çalışılacaktır.
Nationalization and nationalization is a collective process. This stage also forms an important ground toward the national state model. It can be determined by various approaches, such as social-cultural and military-based, that this transformation is used in the creation of the modern Turkish state.In particular, as a foot of cultural change we will stand on, it is observed that works that praise the power with the art and literary achievements, praise the national logic, are presented. To create awareness of national identity, the result is that literary works used to ensure that individuals see themselves as a joint member of a community are used in the construction of the 19th century national states. In order to ensure the transition of Turkey to the nation state, the creation of modern identity and the spread of the incrusts can be said that the novels function as a "designed society and people's use guide". The artists are also expected to support the new system. In this stage of support, both the system and the artists are the most concerned about children. The concept of "ideal Turkish child" has been largely re-formulated on the basis of citizenship. The need for citizens, the need for soldiers, and the need for soldiers, these children are the most important elements of the family, state and society. The desirable child perception with the Republic is made up of individuals who are free from Birth, who have the ideal to get to the high level of civilization of the West, who are connected to the values and inculps of the Republic, who have the "creator/protectional Gazi image" and who are struggling to
Become a nation and nation-building is a social process. This phase also form an important basis for the nation-state model. It can be determined that this transformation was used for the rise of the modern Turkish state by various approaches which are socio-cultural and military basis. It is observed that through works of art and literature that are the part of cultural change that we focus on, are blessed power and exalted the thought of nation. It is seen that the works of literature, written in order to create the consciousness of national identity and to ensure individuals to see themselves as the common members of a community, are used to build the nation states of the 19th century. It can be say that novels function as a "user guide of designed people and society", in the point of creation of modern identity and spread the reforms, in order to Turkey's transition to nation-state. In this respect, what is expected of also the artists is that they support the new order. In this phase of support, the point both the system and the artists put particular emphasis on is children. The perception of “ideal Turkish child” has been reformulated to a large extent on citizenship. As a citizen, entrepreneurs and soldier, children are the most important part of family, state and society. In the Republic Era, the perception of desired child consist of diligent individuals who got rid of being Easterner, have the ideal to rise to the high level of civilization of the West, adhere to the values and reforms of Republic and preserve “image of founding / protective Gazi” on the way to reach modernization and development goals. From how this new generation should use public spaces, to sense of dress, from etiquette to moral perception, from cleanliness to all elements that provide civilization, everything has been determined. In addition, as part of the national consciousness and the idea of creating Republican children, especially was emphasis on education. The idea of enlightening the villages of the schooled children by getting rid of the ignorance, which is damages the dignity of humanity is primarily among the studied subjects. All individuals will consider all these efforts as a duty and responsibility. In the novels written for this purpose, the children with the above-mentioned qualities attract attention. One of these works is Küçük Durmuş 1933 , written by Muallim Cemal. In our study, this novel will be studied in terms of ideal child perception of the nation-state line
