Abstract:

A variety of methods are used to provide communication skills to children with developmental retardation. Reaction Request - Modeling is one of the techniques used in providing communication skills to special needs individuals. In this study, the aim is to study the only parallel research articles that study the impact of the technique of being a response-seeking model on communication skills. For this purpose, a visual analysis and meta analysis of 18 single-range studies, designed according to single-range research methods, has been made. In the visual analysis findings of the study, it was found that the technique of being a response-seeking model in providing communication skills to children with developmental retardation was mostly used by mothers, and that the applications were performed in the clinical environment, classroom and home environment. The majority of children with developmental retardation in these studies have been found to be children with language-speaking disorders and autism spectrum disorders, their age varies between 2-11 years. When studied from the point of view of single-equivalent research models, studies have shown that the multi-start model and multi-destruction model are used. According to the impact sizes obtained from the meta-analysis in this study, the response demand - the modeling technique has been determined to be effective in providing communication skills to children with developmental retardation.
