Abstract:

The main objective of positive psychology to detect factors affecting the development of individuals and communities is to understand and enhance the well-being. Well-being, one of the basic concepts of positive psychology, has attracted the great interest of researchers because it has a significant impact on the quality of life of individuals. The aim of this study is to study the psychometric characteristics of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Goodness Scale Short Form (WEMIOÖ-KF) developed by Tennant and his colleagues (2007). The study of validity and reliability of the scale was carried out on two different working groups. The study included 138 students in the first study group (x=20.68, Ss=1.97) and 256 students in the second study group (x=24. A total of 394 university students, from 088, Ss = 5,94, were conducted. The psychometric characteristics of the measurement; verifying factor analysis, measurement-related validity and intolerance methods have been studied. The verifying factor analysis results applied to the structure validity of the measurement showed that all t values are meaningful and that the model has good compatibility values. For measurement-related validity, Oxford Happiness Measurement Short Form (OMÖ-K), Continuous Hope Measurement (SUÖ) and Detected Stress Measurement (ASÖ) were used. The scale has been shown to have a significant relationship with OMÖ-K and SUÖ at a high level in a positive direction, and with ASÖ at a negative level in a medium level. Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability ratings for the first study group. 84 is calculated as .86 for the second working group. As a result, research findings show that WEMIOÖ-KF is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to measure the levels of mental well-being of Turkish university students.
