İslâm dininin temel rükunlarından birisi olan zekât ibadeti terim olarak Mekke döneminde inen ayetlerde Müslüman bireylerin hoşgörülen bir vasfı olarak zikredilmekle birlikte Hicretin ikinci yılında zekât farz kılınmıştır. Medine döneminde inen Tevbe Suresi’nin 103. Ayeti’yle zekât toplama ve dağıtma görevi bizzatihi Hz. Peygambere tevdi edilmiştir. O da gerek bizzat kendisi zekâtı alıp hak sahiplerine dağıttığı gibi görevlendirmiş olduğu zekât memurları vasıtasıyla da bu görevi yerine getirmiştir. Bu görev yerine getirilirken zekâtın nasıl toplanması gerektiği ile ilgili ilkeler Hz. Peygamber tarafından belirlenmekle birlikte zekâtın kimlere verilmesi gerektiği bizzatihi Allah tarafından Tevbe Suresi 60. Ayeti’yle sekiz sınıf olarak sınırlandırılmıştır. Dolayısıyla devlet başkanın idaresiyle toplanan zekât malları ancak Kur’an’da belirlenen sekiz sınıfa pay edilerek sarfedilmiştir. Bu durum diğer vergilerdeki gibi harcamada devlete serbetiyet vermemiş, görevliye teslim edilen zekât malları belirtilen ayet çerçevesinde ve bu ayetin sınırlandırmasıyla harcanmıştır. Tarihsel süreçte bu duruma azami dikkat edildiği gibi bir takım aksi uygulamalar da meydana gelmiştir. Bu makalemizde Kur’an’la belirlenen zekâtın harcanma yerleri incelenmiş ve bu çerçevede İslam tarihinin ilk dönemlerindeki zekât dağıtım uygulamalarındaki bazı örnekler aktarılmıştır

In this article we have studied the spending places of the zakat determined by the Qur’an and in this framework some examples of the practices of the distribution of the zakat in the early periods of Islamic history have been translated.
