In this retrospective study we compared the clinical results of the anterior chamber ›ntraocular lenses and scleral fixated posterior chamber intraoculer lenses implanted in eyes with lack of posterior capsular support. We included 42 patients who were operated in SSK Göztepe Educational Hospital between the dates April 2001-May 2003, Anterior Chamber Intraocular lens (AC IOL) was implanted to 26 of the patients and Scleral fixated posterior chamber IOL (SF PC IOL) was implanted to 16 of them. We compared the Visual acuity, Intraocular pessure changes, corneal pachimetry and astigmatism results of both groups and we found that there was no any significant difference between the two groups in neither of these parameters. AC IOL and SF IOL implantation are two methods used in eyes with the lack of posterior capsular support. In the recent literature most authors agree that none of these methods is superior to the other. Our results also support this view.
