Abstract:

It is a fact known that those who educate quality people are teachers. From here, it can be said that it is important to focus on the ability to educate qualified teachers. The aim of this study is to reveal what the experience the scientists candidates have gained after the teaching practice. For this purpose, phenomenology has been used as a method of quality research patterns. The participants in the study are eight teachers candidates who undertake teaching practice in different practical schools at the last class level of the main science of science teaching in the spring period 2013-2014. As a data collection tool, a semi-configured conversation consisting of ten questions has been used. The data is analyzed using content analysis. According to the findings obtained in the study, the teaching practice of the participants increased their confidence in their knowledge and skills at the end of the course. Teacher candidates pointed out that the practice teacher is of great importance in terms of acquiring experience, not getting enough experience from the school administration. At the end of the application, it was emphasized that in order for students to be academically successful, their attitudes to the class must be positive and socio-economically good, and that there are still physical deficiencies in terms of the physical conditions of the school. In order to ensure that the teaching candidates are able to do more practice, the conclusion has been made that there should be classes similar to the teaching practice at each class level. When determining practical schools, the choice of schools that will allow teachers candidates to gain experience in terms of physical possibilities, the qualifications of the practical teacher, variables such as the student profile.
