INTRODUCTION: We aimed to compare effects of arterial grafts free blood flow velocity on Coronary artery bypass surgery patients with using systemic different beta blockers with topical papaverin. METHODS: Coronary bypass surgery applied 22 patients were divided into two groups. Patients were administered nebivolol and metaprolol at least 3 days preoperatively. Routine IMA preparation was used for all patients, but in 9 patients radial artery graft was prepared for multiple coronary by-pass. Bleeding was followed 60 seconds and prepared arterial grafts were monitored. After, this measurment normotermic 10 ml ringer solution of 60mg papaverin topically used on arterial graft. Before the extracorpereal circulation, IMA and radial artery grafts bleeding was followed 60 seconds again. Two measurements with at least 20 minutes intervalves. RESULTS: Before the papaverin usage IMA and radial artery blood flow velocity no statistically different in nebivolol and metoprolol groups. After the topical papaverin usage IMA and radial artery grafts blood flow velocity increased statistically significant in nebivolol group but only IMA blood flow velocity in metoprolol group. Compared two groups, nebivolol group blood flow velocity increase of IMA and radial artery grafts statistically significant more than metoprolol group after papaverin usage. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In our opinion, papaverin usage is more synergistic effect on blood flow velocity of arterial grafts of systemic nebivolol received patients, than metaprolol received patients, during coronary artery bypass surgery in patients who had an ischemic heart disease.
