Data is created by the public and collected by the private sector and governments. Governments have long lasting tradition with data collection. Historically, governments were the highest collectors of data on their citizens. In this era, it is possible to process this off-line data with the newly developed analysis methods. It is also possible to process this very large volume, high velocity, and different variety of data which was impossible to process and have meaningful results in the past. These kind of data is called as big data. BRIC countries are predicted to be at the top of the biggest economies in 2050. Turkey is also expected to climb on this graphic. In this paper, the big data policies of BRIC countries and policy transfer possibilities to Turkey are discussed to develop ongoing e-government process in Turkey’s public administration.
