Abstract:

In the era of technology, the importance of the human element, the most effective source of armed conflict, has begun to decline, as the self-sufficient and/or semi-sufficient systems show themselves in the fields of defence and security. The lawfulness of the use of any new weapon or technical equipment used in the fields of defence and security should be discussed. Unmanned aircraft are a good example to be given. Criticisms and doubts about legal compliance have increased due to the problems caused by the unmanned aircraft used in the armed attacks that have been carried out so far. In this context, according to the current international law, it is examined whether the use of unmanned aircraft is illegal.
