The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of proactive socialization tactics practised by newcomers on their organizational commitment. Additionally, it was analyzed whether social integration had a mediating role in this relationship. As a follow up study of Gruman et.al (2006), we carried out a fieldwork including analysis of data collected from 371 newcomer questionnaires from 15separete business spacein Istanbul. The results indicated the proactive socialization tactics which affected newcomers’ commitment to their organizations positively and significantly were feedback seeking, job change negotiation, building relationship with the boss, positive framing and general socializing. Besides, it was revealed that social integration played a partial mediating role in the relation between the tactics such a job change negotiation, feedback seeking, positive framing and organizational commitment.
