Abstract:

Tourism is considered to be a multidisciplinary area since it is highly interrelated with the other disciplines. Besides, marine tourism which is one of the most recent popular touristic products that started to develop with the improvements in marine concept is an evidence for an integration of marine and tourism phenomena. However, researches applied to that integration has so far been to a limited number, and the subtitles of marine tourism have highly been neglected in the tourism literature. Thus, this study aims not only to figure out the acceleration of “marine tourism” topic within the national and international literature but also to provide data for the academicians who aim to make further researches. In this context, since Turkey has a fabulous source of marine environments, the importance of this study is appreciable in stimulating not only practitioners but also the relevant academicians. In this exploratory research, upon the defined key words, 256 researches were found among those published since 1980 and they were grouped under two dimensions as; primary and secondary. This research is supposed to be original with the emphasis put on “marine tourism” fact and a detailed literature review
