In a formal letter dated 05.16.2012 of the Ministry of National Education, taking into account the operating conditions of teacher’s lodges according to their capacities and ratio of usage, revenues and profit-loss situation, number of personnel, and their physical conditions, it was stated that the teacher’s lodgeswith lack of profit would be shut down. As of the date of this research, there have been 168 teacher guesthouses, 491 teacher’s lodgeswith evening art schools and 88 teacher clubhouses giving service within the Ministry of National Education. There are 22 teacher’s lodgesin Istanbul, where this research was carried out. The purpose of this study is to examine to what degree teachers in the province of Istanbul make use of the teacher’s lodgesand what their perceptions are of these lodges. Survey method was used and data was collected in 3 districts selected with purposive sampling method. Data was collected in the months of November and December, 2012. The results show that teachers in these school districts do not use teacher guesthouses a lot, they are not satisfied with the quality of service, and they suggest that teacher’s lodges should be as privileged as the Army lodges and police lodges. The results also identified the need for lodges that are physically and socially improved.
