Abstract:

This study aims to examine the new changes and the developments that have taken place in the field of the religious judiciary frame in Azerbaijan after its independence. Once Azerbaijan gained its independence from Soviet yoke, the new Azerbaijan Republic made some new constitutional arrangements in regard of jurisprudence. In this context, some rules in article 18 ‘Relation between Religion and State’ and article 48 ‘freedom of conscience’ were enacted. In this period, another development in regard of religious freedom took place on the 20th of August 1992. This law which is made of 29 articles grants the citizens the freedom to practice what they believe without the fear of apprehension.After the independence, religion became a respected fact of life. Besides, the government reacted positively to the public religious needs and established the necessary organizations. First, the government established the Religious Affairs Department, instead of former Religious Management of Muslims of Caucasia, and bestowed all the religious affairs managements to this organization
