In this research, it was examined geography textbook (high school 1,2,3 and 4) prepared for 2012-2013 academic year and it was tried to determine if subjects handled according to the activity principle. In geography teaching, there is a lot of principles and one of the most important principles is the activity principle. This principle has a significant place for both teachers who train geography and writers who write geography textbooks. When the geography books have been written according to the new curriculum, the sufficient importance was given to include different kinds of activities which are compatible with the subject. Besides that, there are different kinds of questions in the evaluation part-even if the students find them inadequate- which are suitable for the examination in terms of activity principle. That makes the subjects to be stiffened easily. In conclusion, some of the subjects are related to the activity principle in the geography books which were prepared according to new curriculum in 2005.
