The active carbon obtained by the activation of coal derived from the Zonguldak-Kilimli area using physical and chemical methods was used for the adsorption of the water solution of the Basic Red 46 textile painting material. The adsorbent preparation method has been studied, the effects on the adsorption of the starting painting and the temperature painting substance. With the active carbon obtained by physical activation (PAC) and chemical activation (CAC), the commercial active carbon (AC) color discharge performance was compared. Adsorption tests were carried out at fixed temperatures of 25, 30 and 35 °C in the cut system. The adsorption capabilities determined by the Langmuir model were found at 25, 30 and 35 °C, respectively, 62,7, 23,1, 19,6 (PAC); 201,6, 215,1, 231,5 (AC); and 277,8, 307,7, 323,6 (CAC) mg g-1. The CAC sample, obtained by the application of thermal processing with KOH and with the highest microgensity and surface area, was determined to have the highest adsorption capacity. The results showed that the adsorption of BR 46 on CAC and AC is endothermic, while on PAC is exothermic. The kinetic data has been shown to be compatible with the so-called first-step model. The study shows that the active carbon obtained by COH activation of coal can be effectively used in the treatment of BR 46 textile paint from wastewater with adsorption. The active carbon derived from Zonguldak coal has a high potential for sustainable commercial applications with its low cost, non-toxic properties and excellent adsorption performance.
