This study aims to examine how West African poets use the theme of ode (boasting), compositions, and scourge in their poems. However, this study is extremely important as it sheds light on aspects that many researchers do not know about Arab poetry in Africa. lack press. Since African poets have taken the ode theme limitedly, it was decided that it would be more appropriate to expand the work and cover all of West Africa. The main goal is to reveal the ode theme of West Africa and its characteristics. In the study, odes of West African poets were collected, and necessary classifications were made, the obtained information were thoroughly analyzed and subjected to document analysis. In the study, it was determined that the poets of the region wrote poems boasting of their courage, good morals, poetry skills, religion, and tribes. However, it is clearly noticed that Islamic style prevailed in their praise of their tribes. Sometimes the entries of odes are written freely without classical ode restrictions because some poets started their odes in the name of Allah and the Messenger and finished with thanksgiving. It is imperative to note that in the odes, expressions about African environment and culture were also sometimes found.
