Abstract:

In-service training is seen as necessary in order to catch the age and to increase professional development. In-service training enables employees to perform their duties effectively and efficiently, and to update their training, knowledge and skills. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the in-service training organized for branch teachers in secondary schools and their opinions on these trainings. In this study, qualitative research method and phenomenology research were used. Semi-structured interview technique was used as data collection tool in the study. The data were obtained by interviewing 12 branch teachers. Branch teachers were selected from Zonguldak, Batman, Düzce and Hakkari. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that teachers' in-service training activities were necessary, only when the service was given training, the people who gave it and the methods and techniques used when giving the training. All of the teachers who participated in the study stated that they attended at least one in-service training seminar. In the study, teachers also stated that innovations should be carried out to ensure a high level of benefit from in-service training. In accordance with the findings of the study, it is recommended that in-service trainings should be structured taking into consideration the needs of teachers and the time of the training.
