Post-Traumatıc Stress Dısorder Due to Sexual Abuse in Children: Case Analysis

Abstract:

Post-traumatic stress disorder due to sexual abuse is trauma lasting into adulthood of psychological effects. The hospital staff who are to evaluate and follow sexual abuse are sparse in our country. Due to lack of health center and experts, it has been observed that child has been exposed to the repeated physical and mental examination. Furthermore, it revealed that this is not a multidisciplinary and holistic approach. Nurse is supposed to accompany to the child in each stage of diagnosis and treatment of sexual abuse. Because of sexual abuse, nursing care can be applied in impaired diagnosis to the child with posttraumatic stress disorder and his\her family in order to cope with personal competence of child, sleeping disorders and self-esteem. In this case, it is aimed to pay attention sexually abused child's proplems which occur during the process of treatment and advocacy, and the role of nurse.
