Abstract:

Anatolia has a rich cultural heritage in terms of archaeological remains because it has hosted many civilizations since prehistoric times. The conservation, evaluation and sustainability of these remains are the subjects of restoration, which is a branch of science. Integration is a restoration technique and an important intervention applied to structures that the architectural elements have been damaged or have not reached the present day. The article’s scope is limited to the integration interventions that have been applied in the stone monument structures and the reasons for the integration, the aesthetic appearance of the material used during the integration and the suitability for protection are discussed. Integration applications in the Metropolis Ancient City located in İzmir Torbalı; material, method and technical aspects show periodic differences. In the framework of the article, the theater, the stoa wall and the reception hall, which is integrated in the city, were addressed.
