Genç Kalemler dergisinde yayımlanan “Yeni Lisan” makalesi, Yeni Türk edebiyatının tasnif ve tarihlendirilmesinde rol oynayan metinlerdendir. Millî Edebiyat hareketinin başlangıcı olarak kabul edilen “Yeni Lisan” makalesi, ortaya koyduğu fikirler ve bu fikirlerin icrasına zemin hazırlayan pratik önerileriyle yeni edebiyatın dil, içerik ve üslubuna ilişkin dikkate değer bir rota belirlemiştir. Bu çalışmada, dil ve edebiyat bağlamında olduğu kadar sosyal hayata dair vurgularıyla çok yönlü bir iletiyi barındıran “Yeni Lisan” makalesi, eleştirel söylem odağında çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada Roland Barthes, Teun v. Dijk, Norman Fairclough, Erving Goffman, M.A.K. Halliday, Ruqaiya Hasan ve Doğan Günay’ın konuya ilişkin yaklaşımları ana hatlarıyla verilmiş, ardından bu araştırmacıların çalışmalarında yer bulan ölçütlerden hareketle belirlenen karma bir metotla metin incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonunda otuz iki farklı söylem çözümleme verisi tespit edilmiş, ana ve ara başlık tercihlerinden başlayarak kesinlik ve bütünlük bildiren kip kullanımları, retorik yapılar, söz varlığı tercihleri, ses ve sözcük tekrarları, ironik sezdirimler ve zamir sıklığıyla dilin pek çok işlevinin aynı anda devrede olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çağrı, anlatısallık ve gönderge işlevlerinin görüldüğü metinde karşıtlıklarla “biz” ve “öteki”nin konumları belirginleştirilmiştir. Tespit edilen bu veriler Ömer Seyfettin’in retorik gücünü ortaya koymaktadır
The article “Yeni Lisan” published in Genç Kalemler magazine is one of the texts that played a role in the classification and dating of New Turkish literature. Considered as the beginning of the National Literature movement, the article “Yeni Lisan” has determined a remarkable route regarding the language, content, and style of new literature with the ideas it put forward and the practical suggestions that paved the way for the implementation of these ideas. In this study, the "Yeni Lisan" article, which encompasses a multi-faceted communication with its emphases not only on language and literature but also on social life, has been analyzed within the framework of critical discourse. The study outlines the approaches of Roland Barthes, Teun v. Dijk, Norman Fairclough, Erving Goffman, M.A.K. Halliday, Ruqaiya Hasan, and Doğan Günay regarding the topic, and then examines the text using a mixed method based on the criteria found in these researchers' works. At the end of the study, thirty-two different discourse analysis data points were identified, it was determined that the text uses various language functions simultaneously, including modality indicating certainty and completeness, rhetorical structures, vocabulary choices, repetition of sounds and words, ironic suggestions, and frequency of pronouns. In the text, which shows the functions of address, narrativity, and referentiality, the positions of "us" and "the other" are highlighted through contrasts. These determined data reveal Ömer Seyfettin's rhetorical power.
