Architecture was serving people with the possibilities of non-transformable (static) structures up to the recent times. However, by incorporating the concept of movement into static structures, it has been ensured that structures can respond to rapidly changing needs. Architectural design process with movement, often under the title of kinetic architecture, has many inputs. In this study, the changes that occur in the space with the introduction of the movement concept into architecture, possibilities and flexibility potentialities provided to the users are discussed. The concept of motion, types of motion and mechanisms of movement of contemporary structures in architecture are examined. Relationships, differences and conceptual partnerships between structures have been revealed by investigating the application points of movements and user participation in the design of kinetic structures which is fast-spreading particularly in the last quarter of this century. As a result, this study, which aims to strengthen the perception of architects, will set an example for the development of kinetic structure.
