Abstract:

Turkey is located in a geography where immigration movements are intense. In this context, migration education is of great importance in terms of transmitting the fact of migration to students in a political, social, cultural and economic perspective, expressing the causes and consequences. In the narrative of critical topics such as immigration, the use of material that may attract the interest of age groups in school age instead of using traditional approaches is very important. Therefore, in addition to providing a multi-learning environment by addressing different senses, the materials are important help sources in terms of relating the concept of immigration to these aspects. One of these important materials is educational cartoons. The cartoons, expressed as the ninth great art of the world, are important materials in terms of the use of the text with images, the attraction of attention with its drawings, colors and designs, the possibility of more comment and empathy to the reader. In the translation of different subjects in the educational-learning environment, cartoons are shown as interesting sources. For this purpose; a educational cartoon was designed to try to transfer a social topic such as migration in different aspects, to gain the desired values and attitudes in this regard. The theme of the cartoon is the compulsory immigration of Turks from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1989. The script of the cartoon was created and discussed with 5 people who lived in the history of the cartoon and tried to take advantage of the memories of the people in creating the cartoon. The cartoon material designed in the digital environment with the Web 2.0 tool called Pixton consists of 94 squares. The prepared cartoon material is intended to contribute to the work of immigration teaching, and the cartoon is expected to create awareness of both the immigration phenomenon and what is happening in the 1989 immigration.
