BİR TÜKETİM TOPLUMU ELEŞTİRİSİ OLARAK TAHSİN YÜCEL’İN “KUMRU İLE KUMRU” ROMANI
2021
Journal:
Pamukkale University Journal of Social Sciences Institute
Author:
Abstract:

2021
Author:
Abstract:

The capitalist consumption culture has been increasingly driven towards the lives of societies since the last fifty years. There has been a number of reflections in our society, which has been thrown all the speed into the consumption-oriented postmodern phase without fully absorbing the production-based modernist phase. The individual who is trying to exist with his moral, spiritual, human values has begun to take the place of a human type who believes he is as modern, rich and privileged as he consumes. Themes such as consumption culture, modernization, capitalism’s individualization are the main themes of Tahsin Yücel, which appears to us as the main themes and side themes in the works such as the Last Five Days of the Prophet, Lies, Gökdelen, Kitchen Output. The novel Kumru and Kumru is a work by the author with the intention of making direct criticism of consumption culture. The novel hero who migrated from the village to the city and introduced it to the consumer culture by introducing it to different sociological and economic environments, Kumru wants to question the structure that forms the mentality of today's world. In this review, the reflection of an economic phenomenon in a literary work will be detailed.
