Abstract:

The article discusses the aspects of translating directional lexical units in an original encyclopedic text. The relevance of the research lies in the need to find translation solutions when translating such a correlate of an encyclopedic text as directional lexical units, whose lexical and grammatical features do not coincide between Chinese and Russian. The authors of the study draw conclusions on the developed theoretical sources and analysis of the translating directional units in encyclopedic texts that can be used in teaching the theoretical and applied translation. The study examines the main characteristics of an encyclopedic text from the point of view of the theory of translation, the directional units in the Chinese language as well as analyzes the ways of transferring this category from Chinese to Russian in the texts under study.
