Abstract:

As time progresses, the life span of humanity extend and the population average of societies increases accordingly. Therefore, aging has become one of the important problem to all societies. A significant part of the new problems that arise are related to the accommodation and spatial needs of elderly individuals. For this reason, there are necessities for research studies and projects for the places that are intended to use of elderly individuals. Postgraduate theses prepared within the scope of the subject give an idea about the trends of scientific and social tendencies, practical and theoretical processes. Within the scope of the study, content and methodological analyzes of postgraduate theses written in the field of architecture and dealing with issues related to aging are prepared. Theses related to elderliness and aging within the scope of architecture from different disciplines were examined. The types of theses, departments, languages, departments, universities, keywords and methods were analyzed. Since the first thesis prepared in 1991, the changes in the 30-year period have been interpreted as a process within the research topics. Changes in the process was evaluated especially in terms of keywords and methods used. As a result of the examinations and analyzes made over the years; It has been determined that there has been a constant change in naming public old spaces, the number of theses has increased in parallel with the increasing social problems, the areas studied vary and work intertwined in each other's area. Because of keywords are an important criterion for determining the limitations of multidisciplinary studies, a diagram analysis study on keywords has also been prepared.
