Ekonomik büyüme, makroekonomide bir ülkenin performansını gösteren en önemli göstergelerden biriyken eğitim insanların yaşamında ki en önemli unsurlardan birisidir. Eğitim, bireyin niteliksel yapısında sağladığı değişim ve gelişim ile içinde bulunduğu toplumun sosyal, politik, kültürel ve ekonomik açıdan dönüşümüne katkıda bulunmaktadır. Bununla beraber eğitim, her ülkenin gelişmesine, refahına, ekonomik büyümesine ve toplumsal kalkınmışlık düzeyine katkıda bulunan en önemli etkenlerden biridir. Bu nedenle eğitime yapılan harcamalar büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bilindiği üzere, İsveç Norveç ve Danimarka’nın refah düzeyleri oldukça yüksek ve eğitim sistemi oldukça gelişmiştir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmada amaç, İsveç, Norveç ve Danimarka için eğitim harcamaları ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi teorik ve ampirik düzeyde irdelemektir. Bundan dolayı, 1990-2014 yıllarına ait veriler kullanılarak öncelikle birim kök testi yapılmış, daha sonra panel VAR ve Granger nedensellik analizleri uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, eğitim harcamaları ile ekonomik büyüme arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Granger nedensellik analizinin bulgularına göre ise eğitim harcamalarından ekonomik büyümeye doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi saptanmıştır.
Economic growth is one of the most important indicators of a country’s performance in the macroeconomy, while education is one of the most important elements in people’s lives. Education contributes to the social, political, cultural and economic transformation of the society in which it is provided by the change and development of the individual’s qualitative structure. However, education is one of the most important factors that contribute to the development, well-being, economic growth and the level of social development of each country. The expenditure for education is of great importance. As it is known, the well-being levels of Sweden Norway and Denmark are quite high and the education system is quite advanced. In this context, the aim of this study is to rethink the relationship between education spending and economic growth for Sweden, Norway and Denmark at theoretical and empirical level. Therefore, the data from 1990-2014 were first tested by the unit root, then the panel VAR and Granger cause analysis were applied. According to the results obtained, there was a significant link between education spending and economic growth. According to the Granger Causability Analysis findings, one-way causal relationship has been determined from education spending to economic growth.
