Abstract:

Ismir was occupied by the Greek troops on May 15, 1919. The century is one of the most important events in the Turkish history. The Greek soldiers, which the opposition states have decided to expel to İzmir, committed hundreds of crimes such as massacre, robbery, and insult in the occupation. The Turkish people who realized that the Greeks occupied Izmir to make their homeland, supported the Eastcal War under Mustafa Kemal Pasha with all their strength. The occupation of Izmir is an international event. Therefore, the resources of the countries concerned should also be used in the investigation of the occupation. One of those countries is Italy. Italian journalist Ernesto Vassalo was sent to Turkey by his government to make Italian propaganda. In April 1919, Vassalo arrived in Izmir and witnessed the occupation of the city. It was published in the newspaper Il Tempo in two days. Vassalo has given very important information about the occupation of Izmir, before and after.
