Abstract:

Summary: This study aims to study the attitudes of students towards the teaching profession and the beliefs of the teaching self-quality in visual arts studied at the Faculty of Education and Fine Arts. Based on the reasonable comparison method in the research; the field of visual arts is compared by the attitudes of teachers candidates towards the teaching profession and self-qualification beliefs according to the variables of the faculty, gender, class and perceived academic success level. The examples of the study consist of 307 students who study visual arts at the Faculty of Education and Fine Arts in Selçuk, Necmettin Erbakan and Gazi Universities.  In the collection of research data, the attitude towards the teaching profession and the teaching self-capacity beliefs scales have been used. According to the research findings, the attitude and self-qualification perceptions of students who receive visual arts education towards the teaching profession differ according to the type of faculty. Teachers in the field of visual arts studying in the Schools of Education have seen that teachers candidates in the field of visual arts have more positive attitudes to the teaching profession than their colleagues in the Schools of Fine Arts and have a higher teaching qualification belief. Also, the attitude and self-quality beliefs of teaching candidates towards the teaching profession differ according to gender, class level and the perception of success. Visual Arts has found meaningful relationships in a positive direction between the teaching self-sufficiency perceptions of the teaching candidates and their attitudes towards the teaching profession.
