Abstract:

The purpose - the computer and the internet have been connected to the human in the past for information. With the concept of the Internet of Things, the commitment to man in this regard is reduced. This technology, which increases its use in every day, has a positive impact on the accounting and audit process as it increases its efficiency. As with all innovations, the positive effects of this technology, as well as new risks, arise. The aim of this study is to make a comprehensive document and content analysis of the Internet of Things technology to identify its effects on the accounting and audit process and to identify the risks it reveals. Method - In this study, it was analyzed through qualitative research methods expressed as document analysis and content analysis using secondary data sources in literature. Results - According to our study findings, the Internet of Things technology has positive effects, such as real-time recording, reducing recording errors, improving cost management, enabling digital reporting, facilitating auditors’ evidence collection activities and facilitating stock control, as well as data analysis, costs and cyber security. The concept of the Internet of Things is moving to a new dimension, and although the need for man is reduced, it is believed that five senses of man will always be needed to make the right decisions.
