In this study, it was aimed to compare the adolescents living in the Children's Homes, and living with their families in terms of psychological disorders, emotion regulation, and attachment styles. Secondly, this study was conducted to determine the predictive level of socio-demographic variables, attachment styles, and emotion regulation in psychological disorders in the total sample and to examine the mediating role of emotion regulation in the relationship between attachment styles and psychological disorders. Participants determined by the convenience sampling method consisted of a total of 191 male adolescents aged 14-19, 80 of whom were living in the Children's Homes and 111 of them living with their families. Psychological Disorders Inventory for Adolescents-Psychological Disorders Form (PDIA-PDF), Relationship Scales Questionnaire (RSQ), and Emotion Regulation Scale (ERS). were applied to the participants. It was found a significant difference in favor of the adolescents living in the Children's Homes in terms of social phobia, somatic symptom, social desirability, reappraisal, and dismissing attachment scores. When the results were evaluated in terms of psychological disorders, there was a significant difference only in social phobia and somatic symptom disorder between the two groups. The correlation, regression, and mediation analyzes were performed over the total group since there was the secondary purpose of the study and a significant difference in a small number of variables between the two groups. According to the results of the regression analysis, it was found that the variables that predicted the psychological disorder scores between 9,6% and 33,8% were socio-demographic variables as well as fearful and preoccupied attachment styles. In the mediation analysis, it was found that suppression plays a mediating role in the relationship between fearful and preoccupied attachment and schizophrenia, depression, separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The study provided a comparison of two adolescent groups and contributed the understanding of the effects of attachment styles and emotion regulation on psychological disorders.
