Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, döviz kurlarında meydana gelen değişimlerin, Türkiye’ye gelen turist sayısı ve Türkiye’nin turizm sektöründen elde ettiği gelir üzerinde bir etkisinin olup olmadığını tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın amacı ile ilgili olarak iki model oluşturulmuştur. Birinci modelde gelen turist sayısı, ikinci modelde ise elde edilen toplam turizm geliri bağımlı değişken olarak ele alınmıştır. Her iki model için bağımsız değişkenler olarak döviz sepeti, enflasyon oranı ve faiz oranı analize dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada kullanılan değişkenlere ait veriler aylık bazda olup 01/2003-09/2019 dönemini kapsamaktadır. Veriler T.C. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı, TÜRSAB, TÜİK ve TCMB’ye ait veri tabanlarından elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın uygulama kısmında EViews 9 paket programından yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler üzerinde Johansen eşbütünleşme ve Granger nedensellik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre Türkiye’yi ziyaret eden turist sayısının ve Türkiye’nin turizmden elde ettiği gelirin, döviz kurunda meydana gelen değişikliklerden etkilenmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmaya ait bulgulardan yola çıkarak sektör temsilcilerine, araştırmacılara ve akademisyenlere yönelik öneriler sunularak araştırma tamamlanmıştır.
The main purpose of this study is to determine whether the changes in exchange rates have an impact on the number of incoming tourists to Turkey and Turkey's tourism income. Two models have been created in relation with the purpose of study. The number of tourists coming that in the first model and the total tourism income in the second model are considered as dependent variables. The currency basket, inflation rate and interest rate are included in the analysis as independent variables for both models. The data of the variables which used in the study are on a monthly basis and covers the period 01/2003 - 09/2019. The data were obtained from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TURSAB, TUIK and TCMB databases. EViews 9 package program was used in the analysis part of the research. Johansen cointegration and Granger causality analysis were performed on the data used in the research. According to result of research, the number of tourists who visiting to Turkey and Turkey's income from tourism has not affected by the changes in exchange rate. Based on the findings of the research, the research was completed by presenting suggestions for sector delegates, researchers and academicians.
