Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the levels of high school students' social appearance anxiety and motivation to participate in physical activity according to certain variables and to determine the relationship between them. The study group consists of 337 girls studying in high schools in the provinces of Pain and Erzincan. The data collection tool has been used as "Social appearance anxiety scale" and "Participation Motivation scale" (FAKMÖ). In the analysis of data; visual statistical methods, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation tests were used. The social appearance concerns of participants are low, while the motivation perceptions of participation in physical activity are above the average level. The levels of social appearance anxiety of students do not differ significantly according to the variables in the classroom and school team, while the perceptions of motivation to participate in physical activity do differ significantly. Participants' social appearance anxiety and motivation perceptions of participation in physical activity come, the mother's educational status and the father's educational status do not differ significantly according to the variables. On the other hand, the correlation ratio between the points obtained from SGKÖ and FAKMÖ shows that social appearance anxiety and the motivation to participate in physical activity are a meaningful relationship in the negative direction and in the middle level in the under-dimensional 'insufficiency'.
