Abstract:

In this study, the Covid-19 pandemic occurred in Turkey on March 11, 2020 and the weekly banking data of the 10 weeks after this date and the 10 weeks before this date were examined. On the basis of the differences between the data, the effects of measures against disease on the banking sector have been studied. The analysis was done on the basis of existing sectors in the Turkish banking system, based on public capital, foreign capital, local private capital deposit banks and participating banks. According to this, local private and public capital banks and participating banks have contributed with practices that can be summarized in the form of liquidity, loan use, extension of the deadlines of loans and reduction of the trace rates to prevent the negative economic effects of the pandemic on the real cutting and household people. The effects of these practices against the pandemic on the profit/badness of banks, capital adequacy and liquidity will be understood when different additional analyses are made in the subsequent periods.
