Abstract:

The choice of a career is one of the most important elements in making the individual’s future plan and determining his position in life in the future. Elements such as personal abilities, opportunities, future career goals, desires, social characteristics can be seen as objective criteria that influence the choice of a career. However, individuals can also experience subjective effects when making professional decisions. A variety of impossibilities, the influence of the family and the environment, factors such as future concerns, remove individuals from choosing the right profession. The individual needs to make objective and correct decisions in order to be able to choose the right profession to him. The concept of self-sufficiency ensures an increased self-confidence while increasing the ability of the individual to properly assess, make decisions and resist external effects. The positive and negative factors in a person’s life affect the self-sufficiency of many factors, such as the past life, the social environment. Self-sufficiency is a factor that makes the individual high self-confidence, which is effective in issues such as assessment, problem-solving, decision-making. The self-sufficiency element affects the decisions made in the career as well as in many fields. In the study, the nursing department examined the relationship between the status of self-sufficiency of students and the career choice. The demographic characteristics of students have been found to have differences in the choice of a profession as well as in the level of self-sufficiency. People with high self-quality are determined to make more effective and appropriate decisions in the choice of a profession.
