Abstract:

In this study, the process of the July 12 declaration and the impact of the declaration on the Turkish political life were discussed. After the multi-party life was introduced in Turkey, the relationship between power and opposition was quite tensioned and in this environment, President Ismet Inönü, as a result of his talks with the leaders of power and opposition, published "July 12 Declaration". Declaration and DP, while winning an institutional identity, a mutual confidence environment between power and opposition has been captured. The statement has had significant results both in terms of CHP and DP. In the CHP, the Prime Minister Recep Peker resigned; in the DP, the exports and withdrawals eventually established the National Party. The Declaration has taken its place in Turkish political life as a necessary measure for the establishment of a multi-party democratic order. The message that Turkey supports the multi-party life has also been given to the Western countries.
