Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study the relationship between smartphone addiction and gaming addiction in terms of gender, time of internet use, parent education level, parent separation status, and class level variables. In order to identify the individuals who participated in the study, in the 2018-2019 educational year, the measurement tools used in the study were applied to a total of 271 students, including 151 girls and 120 men, who were selected as volunteers to study at high school in the Mersin Mediterranean State Schools. Personal Information Form for the purpose of collecting information about the gender and class levels of students in the study; Smart Phone Use Level Measurement developed by Shar, Ayas and Horzum to determine the levels of smartphone addiction; Computer Game Addiction Measurement for Children to determine the levels of game addiction. Statistical analyses were analyzed using the SPSS/WINDOWS 25.0 program; Pearson Moments Collapse Correlation Census, ANOVA and t test methods. The findings from the research found that there was a meaningful relationship between the level of computer game addiction and the level of smartphone addiction; that the level of computer game addiction and the level of smartphone addiction had a meaningful difference in terms of gender variable.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between smartphone addiction and gaming addiction in terms of gender, internet usage time, parent education level, parental separation and class level variables. In order to determine the individuals participating in the study, in Mersin Akdeniz public schools selected as volunteers studying at the high school level and a total of 271 students, 151 of whom were girls and 120 of whom were male, measuring tools were applied. In the study, Personal Information Form was applied to gather information about the students' gender and class levels; The Smart Phone Usage Level Scale developed by Sar, Ayas and Horzum was applied to determine the levels of smartphone addiction; Computer Game Addiction Scale for Children was applied to determine game addiction levels. Statistical analyzes were performed by using SPSS / WINDOWS 21.0 program and Pearson Moments Correlation Coefficient, ANOVA and t test method. As a result of the findings of the research, it can be said that here was a significant relationship between the level of computer game addiction and the level of smartphone addiction; in terms of the level of computer game addiction with the level of smartphone addiction, the level of dependence in terms of gender a significant difference it was found.
