Abstract:

Tahsin Yücel, who began his summer life by publishing his first story in "New Stories" in 1950, is one of the important figures of contemporary Turkish literature with his story, novel, experimentation, criticism, fairy tale, review, collection and translation works. The author criticizes the excessive passions of the individual and society in which his works are placed on the main axis, in a multi-layer meaning corner, with a subtle joke and sharp irony. Yücel’s 1995 novel “The Frog Speaker” is remarkable in terms of the dimensions of the destructive effect that passion and dedication creates in the individual’s life. The novel, which passes through a cottage in the city and is over the "belly" and is an ironic story of the tragic story of Cumali, who has abandoned his humanity, his family, his life, "for being the man of the belly". This study aims to explore the attitude of Tahsin Yücel’s work of the Breast Speaker, which questiones and problematizes the relationship that the person who is acting with an unusual passion and a sense of devotion and is exposed to its blurring effect with himself and with the society.

The author criticizes the overriding passions of the individual and society which he has placed on the main axis of his works with a subtle sarcasm and a sharp irony. Yücel’s novel Bıyık Söylencesi published in 1995, is remarkable in that it examines the dimensions of the destructive effect of passion and devotion in the life of the individual. The novel, which takes place in a provincial town and examines the human-object relationship through ‘mustache in an ironic style, tells the tragic story of Cumali, who gave up his manhood, family and life for the sake of being a man of his mustache. This study aims, to examine the questioning and problematizing attitude of the person who acts with an extraordinary sense of passion and devotion and who is exposed to his blinding effect in his own work, Bıyık Söylencesi.
