Abstract:

It is indisputable that the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world, has different effects on the individual and social level while corresponding to a new social order. During this process, every individual and institution, by changing their production and consumption habits, changed their daily affairs as all human matters have been reshaped by articulating their existence in this time of uncertainty. The time that the pandemic will be over, how the vaccine will be used, how the professional world will be altered by considering new work descriptions, and the givens of the home-based society with its flexible working hours have not only become topics of discussion but also fed the feeling of uncertainty in a way to further social anxiety. The precautions taken and the restrictions applied to end the pandemic were used as a tool by political opposition. They were also discussed by various social agents who became unemployed, shut their workplaces, or had no access to the workforce. Hence, this study aims to determine the social attitudes and behaviors brought forward by Covid-19, a global risk experienced worldwide. In line with this purpose, an example of a social media platform, Twitter, was analyzed between 11-16 March 2020 utilizing the content analytical procedures that focus on the messages or “Tweets.” As a result of these analyses, five significant risk perceptions and social reactions were developed against the Covid-19 pandemic. These were evaluated as indicators of resilience as well as social vulnerabilities.
