Abstract The concept of gourmet, which has recently become popular with the influence of traditional media and social media tools, comes from the French word gourmet and is expressed as 'tasting' by the Turkish Language Association (TDK Dictionary, 2020). The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students towards the concept of "Gourmet" through metaphors. For this purpose, “Gourmet ……… is similar; Anadolu University Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students were asked to complete the sentences in the forms given in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic year. 76 students from different classes participated in the research. The research was carried out with the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs, and the data obtained were analyzed with the metaphor and content analysis technique. As a result of the analysis, 39 of the 70 students who gave valid answers in the study were male and 31 were female. It was observed that the students produced a total of 58 metaphors related to the concept of 'gourmet'. 50 metaphors developed for the concept were evaluated in 3 different conceptual categories, and 8 developed metaphors were evaluated under the other category since they were seen as independent from other metaphors in terms of content. As a result of the research, it can be said that the students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department have a basic background on the concept of 'gourmet'.
